Game Development Profile for Keith "Dinosaur Lightning" Burgun

|
The day I got my first computer, a 486, I ran QBASIC.EXE and started learning to code. It has always been my dream to make games. Throughout the years, I have created tens of small QBasic and Pascal games, and I've been involved with quite a few independent development teams. I plan on trying to get a job in the industry, for music composition or possibly level design. My greatest passion however, is game design. |
Skills
| Music Composition/Sound - Probably my strongest
ability. I especially love music for RPGs and console-style games such as
platformers, but I think versatility is the best thing an artist can have, and
so I feel confident going into any style. (Samples) Level Design - I've been designing levels since I was young. My father is an architect so I always had an interest in creating a place to live in. Most recently, I've gotten very comfortable using HAMMER for HL2, and the WarCraft III World Editor. |

Concept Art - Samwise Didier of Blizzard Entertainment is my hero (of concept artists). Here are my sketches: army girl - cat - demon - robotboy - sunset - farmer thief - fallout - ninja - eggmann
Game Design - My greatest passion in terms of game development is without a doubt game design. I have written at least three full game design documents - an MMORPG, an RTS and a brawler. If you need ideas for game mechanics, help in balancing a game, or a new game dynamic, I can do that. I am currently the lead designer of the independent project, 100 Quests.
Writing - I write mostly essays, short stories, and design documents. The two articles I wrote for wcreplays.com were very well received and were translated into at least two other languages worldwide. I have a new weblog featuring essays I've written about game design, called The Expensive Planetarium.
Misc: I can do some basic 3D modeling (props and such) in Lightwave, 3DSMax, and Blender. I also have a decent knowledge of Flash. I'm also fairly decent doing pixel art for items and environment.
Programming - Limited to QBASIC! No, I'm not a programmer, but I have written quite a few games in QBASIC which you can download here. (You may need a dos emulator such as DOSBOX to get them running at the proper speed, etc.) |
Experience
|
Draft Software - Independent company, worked with them for 2 years on an unnamed 2D tank combat game. Did some sprite art, design, music. Autumn Fog - Side-scrolling WW2 combat game, similar to a real-time 'Worms' game. Nirates - Creators of a Metal Slug-style RPG. Dino Development Farm - Lead design and music creator - Company is currently developing "100 Quests", a innovative multiplayer party-game RPG. |
